Your first examination will consist of two parts. The first part will be an objective portion, worth 15 points, for which you will match fifteen pairs of author names and text titles. The second part will consist of an essay question that will ask you to write on three different writers from our assigned list of readings, one of which will be selected ahead of time by yours truly. This essay response will be worth 35 points. Your overall point total will then be doubled to place you on a standard 100-point grading scale.

The examination will be given on Thursday, February 16. Please bring your own paper and writing utensil(s). There will be no make-up exams without penalty (unless rescheduled prior to the in-class exam). You must take this exam to pass the course.
